A toddler has died after she was struck by a van on Friday in Chestnut Ridge.

Ramapo police say a 19-year-old driver backed a van into the girl, who was in the road. The child, identified as Judy Danzinger, was 18 months old.

The incident happened along Beckett Court, which is a dead-end street. Neighbors say that kids had been released from school early and were out on the streets when the car came through and made a U-turn, hitting the child.

The child was rushed to Westchester Medical Center in cardiac arrest and was stabilized for a while at the hospital. However, the child succumbed to her injuries around 10 a.m. Saturday morning.

No charges or tickets have been issued to the driver at this time.
