A state senator is calling on a consumer products testing company in New City to issue a recall.
The owner of AMA Laboratories, Gabriel Letizia Jr. is facing fraud charges in connection to a scheme to falsify product test results for the last 30 years, officials say.
Sen. David Carlucci now says the public should know what products AMA Laboratories has tested. He says it's a health and safety issue.
"I think it's absolutely imperative that AMA Laboratories conducts a voluntary recall immediately," Carlucci said.
Products that the company has tested include sunscreens and other cosmetic products.
Officials say Letizia and others tested drugs and cosmetic products on fewer panelists than they reported.
Four other employees at AMA Laboratories pleaded guilty to wire fraud earlier this year.
News 12 reached out to Letizia Jr.'s lawyer, but has not heard back.
