Officials say a man was fatally shot while allegedly robbing a home in Poughkeepsie Saturday night.

Officials say they received a call after 10 p.m. Saturday from a resident on North Bridge Street who claimed two men armed with handguns attempted to rob him in his apartment. They say the caller told them that he fought the two men and took the gun away from one of the suspects before shooting him.

The man shot was pronounced dead at the scene and has not been identified. The second suspect fled the scene.
