Orchard Beach will not be as safe as normal after the city pulled EMS workers from beaches across the city, local officials say.
Emergency Medical Services personnel have long patrolled Orchard Beach, making decisions such as whether a beachgoer required medical attention.
"It is unconscionable that we as a city would decide to pull emergency service staff from our beaches and expose the public to such danger," says Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr.
Officials suggest that aggrieved Bronx residents contact the office of Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta to voice a complaint.
