Officials: Ex-NYPD officer from Mohegan Lake sentenced to 5 years in prison for tipping off gang leader

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York says 33-year-old Gina Mestre admitted to helping him avoid being arrested after he committed a murder in November of 2020.

An ex-NYPD officer from Mohegan Lake was sentenced to five years in prison for tipping off a violent gang leader during a federal investigation.
The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York says 33-year-old Gina Mestre admitted to helping him avoid being arrested after he committed a murder in November of 2020.
Officials say that gang leader was her boyfriend, who ended up getting caught and sentenced to 35 years in prison
Mestre was a nine-year veteran of the NYPD.
In addition to her prison time, she must serve two years of supervised release.
