Officials: 15-year-old student found with loaded gun Wednesday at Lawrence High School

There was a brief, but tense lockdown Wednesday morning at Lawrence High School in Lawrenceville after a report of a loaded handgun at school.
The 15-year-old male student was immediately taken into custody by the school resource officer and will face weapons charges.
The Lawrence Township Police Department in conjunction with the Lawrence High School administration, Mercer County Prosecutors Office and Mercer County Sheriff's Department began conducting a detailed investigation.
During this time, the school was placed in lockdown and a K-9 sniff of all students book bags was conducted. No other weapons were located during this investigation.
The exterior of the school and the surrounding area were also searched by officers.
There is still no word this morning on why the suspect brought the loaded gun to school.
