A local politician is launching a war on graffiti that has plagued the South County Trailway bike path for decades.

Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner is one of thousands of cyclists who ride along the 22-mile trail.

"At one point this path was an old railway line, but even markers along the way teaching you about the history of the trail have fallen victim to the vandals," he says.

Feiner is proposing a solution to the problem that has been dubbed the "Graffiti Busters."

"The county, or the friends of the county parks would supply the volunteers with paint and then periodically, at least once a month, the group of volunteers would go around the county park system looking for graffiti," he says.

He says that he would be among the first to pitch in his free time to tackle the issue.

"I would be all in favor of something of that type of a policy, and I would be more than willing to take part in that type of procedure," he says.

Feiner says he will be submitting the proposal to Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino.
