Just days after the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, Westchester County police are stepping up their training for active-shooter situations.
Officers prepared for mass shooting or hostage situations inside the Westchester County Police Academy in Valhalla.
Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino came to witness the training himself and promised to back the department.
But PBA President Michael Hagan said Westchester's Department of Public Safety could use more equipment.
"The budget, the last couple of years, has continuously cut us and as a result this year, we're down 12 officers," he said.
