An off-duty White Plains firefighter rescued a woman from a car fire in Brookfield, Connecticut early Saturday morning.

Firefighter Nick Perri was driving home when he noticed a car engulfed in flames. Without a hose line or protection, he was able to enter the vehicle and remove the driver. He then carried the driver to EMS where she was treated and transported to a hospital.

Perri was also treated for minor injuries but refused to be transported to the hospital.

If not for the actions of Perri, fire officials say the woman likely wouldn’t have survived the incident.
