Traffic was shut down in Gravesend Thursday to celebrate the life of a 4-year-old girl, who was shot just days ago in the middle of Times Square.
The NYPD Community Affairs rallied around Skye Martinez as she continues to recover along with her family.
Dozens of NYPD cars lined the streets in the area with a small parade, and Minnie Mouse also made a surprise appearance.
“I keep remembering my daughter looking at me, looking at my eyes, telling me, 'Mommy, I’m OK. Mommy, I’m OK.' It just amazes me that she was being very brave and not crying. The only time I heard her cry was when the officer was putting the kit on,” said Sonia Romero Martinez, her mother.
She says doctors have told them that it will take weeks for her fractures to heal and six months for her to be able to do activities a child her age would be able to do.
