NYPD arrests driver in connection to deadly crash on Cross Bronx Expressway

Authorities say a man is now in custody and faces multiple charges in connection to a three-car crash that killed a special education teacher last year.
Police identified the person in custody as 43-year-old Abdullah Bruce.
The deadly collision happened Nov. 29 on the Cross Bronx Expressway when police say a tractor-trailer, driven by Bruce, was rear ended by a sedan near exit 1A, which led to a second tractor-trailer rear ending the sedan.
All three vehicles then went up in flames, police say. The driver of that car, 49-year-old Shelly Vilsaint, died from the incident. Vilsaint was a special education teacher who taught at Frederick Douglas Academy in the Bronx.
According to investigators, Bruce is facing multiple charges including driving without a license as well as aggravated unlicensed operator.
