A major crash on Ocean Parkway involving seven cars sent 16 people to the hospital Monday afternoon with victims ranging in age from just 2 months to 79 years old.

This is not too shocking in Brooklyn. There have been 129 vehicle crashes, with 66% of that number resulting in injury, on Ocean Parkway from Jan. 1 through this past Friday, according to data from NYC Open Data.

To see how the dangers of Ocean Parkway compared to similar roads in the borough, we compiled data from Ocean Parkway, Linden Boulevard and Utica Avenue.

This data goes as follows:

According to NYC Open Data, there were 129 vehicle crashes on Ocean Parkway between Jan. 1, 2024 and Oct. 18, 2024. There were 111 on Utica Avenue. The number of crashes on Linden Boulevard were 201.

Despite Linden Boulevard having a higher number of crashes, Ocean Parkway proved to be more dangerous, as a higher percentage of Ocean Parkway crashes resulted in injury of one or more people. That number was 66%.
