Mayor Zohran Mamdani penned his endorsement of Gov. Kathy Hochul's reelection in an op-ed in The Nation Thursday morning.
"The era of empty promises ends," he wrote, saying Hochul echoed the idea following their promise to deliver universal childcare to New York.
Hochul and her running mate Adrienne Adams are expected to get the nomination at the state Democratic convention Friday.
In the op-ed, Mamdani highlights recent victories, such as establishing a "new era in the relationship" between Albany and the city, protecting New Yorkers from ICE and more.

New Yorkers deserve leaders who believe in transformation. Leaders who understand that hope is inspired by a vision, and sustained by change. Governor Kathy Hochul has earned my endorsement because she has chosen to govern in that spirit. And in this moment, that choice matters.

The mayor also noted their differences, including taxing the wealthiest New Yorkers:

We have real differences, particularly when it comes to taxation of the wealthiest, a moment defined by profound income inequality. I continue to believe that the wealthiest among us can afford to pay just a little bit more.
