NYC man fled traffic stop, crashed on Saw Mill River Parkway; faces slew of charges
A New York City man, identified as Jose Polo, is facing multiple charges following a pursuit involving Westchester County Police on the Saw Mill River Parkway.
Police reported that they attempted to stop a Mercedes SUV driven by Polo, 40, for traffic violations on Saturday morning. However, Polo failed to comply, prompting police to pursue him.
The pursuit culminated in a collision between the Mercedes and another vehicle, causing the Mercedes to crash into the center guide rail.
An off-duty County Police officer witnessed Polo abandoning the vehicle and fleeing, prompting a chase by the uniformed on-duty officer. With the off-duty officer's assistance, Polo was apprehended.
A woman and her two children who were in the vehicle with Polo were unharmed.
Polo now faces charges including reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless driving and numerous driving violations.
He was arraigned in Dobbs Ferry Village Court and released on his own recognizance.
