It feels more like the middle of summer than spring across the city as temperatures climbed into the 90s and a heat advisory took effect.

Still, that didn’t stop plenty of people from heading outdoors in Fort Greene Park.

Kids ran through sprinklers to cool off while others walked dogs, played basketball and squeezed in workouts before the hottest part of the day.

“The weather is beautiful,” said Manny Thomas, who was on the court. “I’m on a break from lunch and I’m just shooting around. I’m out here early.”

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for all five boroughs from 11 a.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Wednesday. Officials say it could feel as hot as 99 degrees at times.

There is also an air quality health advisory in effect through Tuesday night.

Health officials are encouraging people to drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat hours and spend time in air-conditioned spaces if possible.

In Fort Greene, Hoang Nguyen was out walking his dog and pushing his young son in a stroller. He says the warm weather actually makes it easier for his family.

“Just stay in the shade but enjoy the weather cause it’s not gonna last long,” Nguyen said.

“It’s nice to be outside. Just enjoy the weather. It’s easier with him too,” he added.

City officials are also reminding New Yorkers to check in on older neighbors and anyone without air conditioning during the heat.

Cooling centers are open across the city for anyone needing relief from the temperatures.

Information on locations and heat safety tips can be found at NYC Beat the Heat.
