The state GOP chair was in Rockland Monday standing alongside other Republicans and calling on Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign, saying there are too many strikes against him.

New York Republicans are putting heat on Albany for either Gov. Cuomo to resign or for the state's impeachment probe to move quicker.

"We saw federal impeachments move at a very serious speed level, yet they couldn't wait to get out of session and shut things down in June," says New York State Republican Committee Chairman Nick Langworthy.

The impeachment probe began in March. It was launched amid allegations that Gov. Cuomo’s office covered up of nursing home deaths and sexual harassment claims against the governor, which are being investigated by the attorney general.

State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie said on Friday it may not be enough to begin an impeachment proceeding.

"As it relates to the nursing homes, let’s understand something – the attorney general actually had to contact the state commissioner of health to tell him to correct his numbers…whoever heard of such a thing?" asked Rockland County Executive Ed Day.

Republicans blame the Assembly Judiciary Committee, which is conducting the impeachment probe, of wasting time hoping the public forgets all the scandal surrounding Cuomo.

"When the attorney general releases her report whether its next week, week after, next month from now, I encourage all my colleagues to immediately follow through on their demands for his resignation, and if he refuses to do so, urge the speaker to move forward with impeachment," said Assemblyman Mike Lawler.
