A program created by New York's attorney general could help thousands of Hudson Valley homeowners facing foreclosure.

The state Mortgage Assistance Program just got a $100 million expansion. The additional funds will be used to help thousands of families across the Hudson Valley and New York pay off small debts that are preventing them from securing a much-needed mortgage modification.

Sixty-five families across the Hudson Valley have already benefited from the MAP program, receiving an average loan of $29,000.

The program was started by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman with funds from a deceptive banking settlement with Goldman Sachs.
