Questions are being raised by New York’s attorney general about a charity golf tournament that Eric Trump holds annually in Briarcliff.
The event, held at the Trump National Golf Club, aims to help children who are battling cancer. Between 2007 and 2015, Eric Trump raised millions for St. Jude Children's Hospital at the Westchester club. Now those donations are coming under question by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
A statement to News 12 from his office read, “"We are looking at issues at the Eric Trump foundation raised by public reports,” a reference to a recent Forbes Magazine article showing that as much as $1 million of the donated money went to Trump family business.
The article also questions why costs to run the tournament climbed from $46,000 to $322,000 by 2015.
Trump denied any self-dealing and said in a tweet, “Respectfully, I have raised $16.3 million for dying children with an expense ratio of less than 12.3 percent. Let's not politicize pediatric cancer.”
In an official statement from the Trump Organization, a spokesperson said at no time did the organization profit in any way from the foundation or its activities.
