A New Jersey man made history on the race car circuit.
Andre Lafond, of Montclair, is the first Haitian American to win a Formula Ford Championship race.
The event was held in September at Donington Park in England.
Lafond was premature and later diagnosed with ADHD and severe fine motor control challenges. His first word was "wheels."
In elementary school, Lafond timed his daily bike rides to school, trying to break the previous day's record. He got his first shot at racing in 2018.
Lafond drove a full season of racing karts in the New Jersey State Championships
