State police say nine people were busted in a crackdown of workers? compensation fraud in Westchester, Putnam and Orange counties Wednesday.
Both the Westchester District Attorney?s office and the Putnam District Attorney?s office conducted lengthy investigation into fraudulent claims. Officials say those arrested submitted claims that they were unable to work and took new jobs while collecting workers? comp. Five of the men were from Westchester, the others were from Putnam and Orange counties.
According to police, one of the men arrested was a corrections officer at Sing Sing, who said he got hurt falling down the stairs at the prison. Police say he was working in construction when he was busted.
