New York American Water has stopped sending out August bills as it addresses complaints, according to Newsday.

More than 800 customers, primarily on the South Shore, claim their bills are skyrocketing.

A meeting of angry ratepayers was held in East Rockaway last week.

The state Department of Public Service was there and says it is conducting an investigation.

The New York attorney general, the state, Nassau comptrollers and the Nassau DA's office are also reviewing complaints.
