The City of Newburgh has submitted its budget proposal for 2024.
The plan includes a fifth consecutive year of tax rate reductions, with a 17% decrease in the homestead tax rate and a 29% drop in the non-homestead tax rate.
The budget also allocates a 20% increase in public works spending, a 28% raise in police officer salaries, and a 12% uptick in public safety spending.
A public hearing on the proposed budget is scheduled for Nov. 13, with City Council action slated for Nov. 27.
