Hudson Valley is welcoming the first medical marijuana dispensary in the state to offer the product in plant form.
Patients at Curaleaf in Newburgh will be the first in the state to legally purchase the product in plant form.
Customers can now buy a ground version of the plant in pods that are vaporized - similar to a nebulizer.
The plant-based product offers a less-expensive alternative to other forms of medical marijuana currently available in New York.
An employee shared information with News 12 about how the process will work.
"What we are offering is a ground flower pod. It contains 3.5 grams of ground cannabis that's been cared for 30 days, trimmed and ground for patients to vaporize," says Stacia Woodcock of Curaleaf.
Other forms of medical cannabis typically available for purchase include capsules. Tincture or vape cartridges.
