Newburgh school board approves board election results, discusses plans for budget

Last week, voters shot down a proposed budget for the 2024-2025 school year.

A total of 28 outstanding affidavit ballots were released during Tuesday's Board of Education meeting in Newburgh. Six of them came from non-registered voters, one of them was left blank. The rest were tallied and approved by the board.
It comes one week after the election.
Thirteen candidates have been vying for six seats. Christine Bello had the most votes. Mackenzie Bousche came in second. The third place is tied between Thomasina Bello and Philip Howard. That will be decided during a run-off election on June 18.

The school board will be holding a special meeting Thursday evening to talk about potential revisions to the budget. Then, it will be up to voters to weigh in during the June election.
