The city
of Newburgh's police chief suddenly resigned Wednesday.
Chief
Arnold "Butch" Amthor told News 12 he resigned and
decided to "part ways" with the city after completing
the mandatory reform plan.
Amthor
is the city’s third police
chief in less than a decade.
City
officials referred to Amthor’s resignation as a retirement. They say they’re sorry to see the longtime
public servant go.
There is
no word on who will be appointed as acting
chief.
