Police say they have arrested a man who stole packages that had been delivered to homes.
Edward Salle, of Newburgh, has been charged with stealing the packages, according to authorities.
Officers responded to the vicinity of Stewart Avenue following reports of suspicious activity.
Salle was spotted riding a bike near Route 17-K, but he fled and abandoned both the bike and a large bag. Investigators believe that most of the items found in the bag, along with the bike, were stolen late Monday night.
Anyone who believes their belongings were taken is urged to contact the police at (845) 564-1100.
