Newburgh delays teacher layoffs after receiving some aid

The Newburgh School District reported plans for as many as 125 layoffs due to a 20% decrease in state aid during the pandemic.

There is some good news in Newburgh for dozens of teachers and staff facing layoffs.
The district now confirms that full state aid will be received this month and that layoffs are being postponed as a result.
Just last week, the Newburgh School District reported plans for as many as 125 layoffs due to a 20% decrease in state aid during the pandemic.
District administration says it's not clear if future aid will be cut, and that it is now looking at other ways to reduce costs.
