According to a recent study by WalletHub, New York is one of the least hard-working states in the United States. The study evaluated work habits across 10 indicators and ranked New York at 49th out of 50 states, highlighting a unique approach to work-life balance.
On average, Americans put in around 1,811 work hours annually. However, approximately 55% of Americans did not use their paid time off in 2022 due to worries about job commitment and workflow disruption.
The WalletHub study highlighted the varying work attitudes across states, with North Dakota leading as the hardest-working state, followed closely by Alaska. In contrast, New York secured the 49th spot, with low direct work factors but relatively better performance in indirect work factors.
