Despite today's rain, New York state has upgraded the Hudson Valley region's drought status from "watch" to "warning."
Local communities urge residents to restrict non-essential water usage.
Conservation tips include:
Taking shorter showers
Turning off water while brushing teeth
Checking for leaks
Using dishwasher and washing machine for full loads
Reusing collected rainwater
The Village of Goshen is restricting outside water usage from 5-8 p.m. and the Rockland County Department of Health is also encouraging water reduction.
