The weather looks calm and seasonable for this New Year's Eve.

If you are heading to Times Square to watch the ball drop, temperatures will be near 40 degrees at midnight with light northwest winds and a wind chill of 36 degrees. It will be dry with mostly clear skies.

In the past we've had some extreme weather on New Year's Eve. It was as warm as 58 degrees in 1966 and 1973 at midnight. In 1918, it was frigid with a temperature of 1 degree.

A total of 1.02 inches of rain fell throughout the day in 2018. In 1948, there was 4 inches of snow.

It will be a calm holiday weather-wise to ring in 2024.
