A part of Orange County now has its own state police barracks.
The new Greenville Barracks on Route 6 is now officially open and will be staffed by two dozen troopers, including two sergeants and two criminal investigators.
The troopers will also cover Waywayanda, Minisink and Mount Hope. "When you have these small rural towns that can't afford their own police departments, it's something the state does to provide this service and it's great for these towns," says Capt. Brendan Casey.
The new barracks is taking over the western part of Orange County from Troop F in Middletown.
