The owner of a New Rochelle stationery wholesaler was badly beaten Thursday during a robbery.
Police say two males in their late teens or early 20s entered the North Avenue store around 10 a.m., beat the owner and stole money. Owner Ashok Kumar was beaten with a baseball bat, according to witnesses. Kumar was taken to the hospital with face and head injuries.
Police viewed surveillance video from cameras on the block. Detectives say they have identified two New Rochelle men they believe are responsible for the robbery. They say both suspects have a long criminal history. Police say an arrest in the case is imminent.
