The Main Library and the Huguenot Children's Library are now closed, and are expected to reopen on Thursday.
Library officials say they believe it is unlikely anyone visiting the library was in contact with the staff member.
The book drops at both the sections of the library will remain open and the no fines policy for late returns will continue.
