A New Rochelle detective acquitted of assaulting a suspect while off-duty was fired on Friday.
The decision came after a disciplinary hearing for Michael Vaccaro. He was seen on video punching and kicking Malik Fogg after they were involved in an argument at a gas station.
The 39-year-old was an 18-year veteran of the department. He had been suspended with pay since the 2021 incident, but his pay was discontinued earlier this year.
Fogg filed a federal lawsuit stemming from the incident.
