New NY lifeguard bill aims to alleviate shortage across the state
New legislation has been signed in New York, allowing 15-year-olds to become lifeguards at children's summer camps if directly supervised.
Gov. Kathy Hochul said it would help New Yorkers safely enjoy the beaches and camps across the state while aiding in the current lifeguard shortage.
The legislation allows the expansion of individuals who can become lifeguards at summer camps across New York.
