Lawmakers have approved a safety net for local teachers when it comes to the new Common Core test.
Under the new measure, low-rated teachers in New York wouldn't be at risk of losing their jobs based simply on student performance.
The change would only apply to the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years.
The bill now needs the signature of Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
