A New City firefighter is fighting for his life after being hospitalized with the flu weeks ago.
His family says the former Clarkstown North football player took a major turn for the worse.
“They took both his hands off, one at the wrist and one below the wrist. And they also took both his feet off,” said New City Fire Department Assistant Chief Richard Wilson.
Firefighters say the amputations were due to McCue going into septic shock.
The 19-year-old was also put on a ventilator and dialysis while doctors work to save his right leg.

The fire department has voted the once-probationary firefighter to be a lifetime member. This usually takes 20 years.
Firefighters say they have planned several fundraisers to help raise money for McCue's medical expenses.
The first one will be held April 8 at Lynch's Restaurant in Stony Point.
