A new book will highlight the life of a Westchester native who spent decades protecting the region's waterways.
Westchester native Ron Gatto spent his career safeguarding New York's waterways, and the new book, "Strong Arm of the Law" by David Small, highlights his role in major pollution cases and the emergency response protocols he helped shape statewide.
The book details Gatto's close ties to high-profile figures, including Bobby Kennedy Jr.
Author David Smail says Gatto's mission was always protecting people, their water and their environment.
He says Gatto coordinated the statewide response to Hurricane Sandy and the protocols he developed are still being used today.
The book will hit store shelves early August.
