Trees are still falling across the Hudson Valley days after the powerful storms that swept through the region.
News 12's Lisa LaRocca got a firsthand look at the ongoing impacts when a tree came down in her own backyard in Harrison on Monday afternoon.
LaRocca said the tree fell around 2 p.m. despite calm conditions. "It wasn't raining, and there were no strong winds. It just suddenly fell," she said.
The incident highlights how storm-damaged trees can continue to pose a danger long after severe weather has passed.
In Yonkers, drone video captured a massive fallen tree on Ridge Drive that also brought down utility wires.
The tree is not blocking any roads, but cleanup is expected to be a major undertaking.
In New Rochelle, a tree fell onto a parked vehicle on Bancker Place Monday night, according to the owner.
The storm’s effects are also continuing to impact drivers in Rockland County.
Flooding closed part of the Palisades Interstate Parkway near the Bear Mountain Traffic Circle at Exit 19 in Highlands.
Southbound lanes have since reopened.
Northbound lanes remain closed, and a traffic diversion remains in place at Exit 19.
Officials are reminding homeowners to keep an eye on trees that may have been weakened by recent storms, as damaged trees can continue falling days later.
