A new bill proposed by a local lawmaker could give elementary students recess every day.
The legislation introduced by State Sen. James Skoufis (D-42) would require no less than 30 minutes of daily recess.
It's an effort to prevent recess periods from being withheld from students as punishment for their behavior.
The World Health Organization found that 81% of elementary age students do not engage in enough physical activity, with only about 10 states currently mandating recess.
