People living near the Tappan Zee Bridge say noise levels have reached an all-time high as summer construction on the new bridge surges ahead.
Neighbors say they know the work and noise takes some getting used to, but that lately they're getting more than they bargained for.
There are several noise monitors installed that make sure construction doesn't go over 90 decibels. However, it has exceeded that limit at times in the past few weeks.
While officials maintain the bulk of the banging is over, South Nyack Mayor Bonnie Christian is working with bridge authorities to keep noise levels from going over the limit again.
The mayor also has an email newsletter updating residents on noise pollution.
A Tappan Zee spokesperson told News 12 that the noise is louder than they anticipated, but they are taking steps to lower it.
