The nation?s largest retailer opened up its doors Wednesday in White Plains, bringing lots of shoppers and lots of fanfare.

The long awaited opening of Wal-Mart on Main Street brought dozens of shoppers to check out the multi-level retail store that was once the site of Sears. Wal-Mart officials say the new store brings 400 jobs to the area.

City officials hope that the new store can help revitalize the block and bring more business to the mom and pop stores that have been struggling to compete with the malls. Local storeowners say they welcome the business the retail giant will bring to the area.
