National Police Week kicked off Monday in Yonkers.
The week honors current and past officers who protect and serve their community.
Mayor Mike Spano said the city's finest should be recognized every day, not just one week a year.
"Let's not just thank and appreciate our finest because our calendar tell us to do so. Let's remember them each and every single day and say thank you for what they do," he said.
