August is National Black Business Month. News 12 is shining a light on Black-owned businesses to celebrate.
Rescu, a wellness facility opened its doors in Scarsdale in March.
"As people of color, it's important for us to normalize our faces in spaces of wellness, of health and fitness," says Myrna Brady, the fitness director at Rescu.
Rescu focuses on non-invasive wellness and fitness to prolong life, build up immune systems, exercise tolerance, and proactive wellness.
"Being able to come back home and being able to do this in my own backyard is very special," says founder Dr. Rondalph Taylor.
"We need to celebrate their ingenuity, their entrepreneurship and their success," says John Ravitz, executive vice president of The Business Council of Westchester.
The latest data from 2017 shows that only 3% of businesses in Westchester County are Black- or African American-owned.
