Multiple agencies responded to a brush fire in Tuxedo on Wednesday.

The call for the fire came in around 12 p.m.

It happened around Little Dam Lake in Tuxedo. Officials say it was in an isolated area on a peninsula.

Getting to the fire was difficult due to the terrain, according to officials on the scene.

“It's very rough terrain, very swampy to get in. We can't get UTVs in, so it's all on foot," said Chief John Bower, with the Tuxedo Fire District.

The fire was mainly contained after a couple of hours.

Officials tell News 12 the dry conditions didn't help.

"It's definitely dry, but luckily the area that is in question right now is surrounded by water," said Bower.

There are no current reports of any serious injuries.

The smell of smoke and urgent emergency response had nearby residents concerned.

"It's scary because of all the fires that happened in Greenwood Lake," says Tuxedo resident Pam White.

A wildfire burned through thousands of acres in Greenwood Lake last November.

Residents in Tuxedo say that the November fire is still fresh on their minds.

Officials tell News 12 that the Tuxedo fire was fairly minor.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
