The MTA has announced a new smartphone app just in time for the holiday rush.
The TripPlanner+ app is the mobile version of the agency's TripPlanner, which has been offered on its website since 2006, giving commuters access to travel itineraries for the city's subway and bus network.
Users can enter a specific address, landmark, intersection or subway station for directions. They will then receive up to three route options at their fingertips between the two points using public transit.
The app displays total travel times and cost of fares for the entire trip. There will also be an alert in the event of a service disruption or detour.
TripPlanner+ is free to download for any iOS mobile device.
