A Mount Vernon police officer was sentenced Monday for a fight that took place in a Sleepy Hollow apartment building a year ago.
Officer John Gamble received one year conditional probation. Gamble was found guilty of punching his neighbor, Daryl McCoy, in the face in August 2007. Police say that McCoy insulted Gamble?s daughter, which prompted the assault.
Authorities say that as long as Gamble can stay out of legal trouble, all charges against him will be dropped. Fellow Mount Vernon officers were happy with the verdict.
Gamble could have spent one year in prison if he was found guilty on assault charges.
