Police in Mount Vernon issued a warning to gang members in light of recent violence in the schools.

Police arrested a suspended student at A.B. Davis Middle School for slashing another suspended student in the arm with a box cutter outside the school Wednesday. Police say the incident stemmed from a gang-related feud.

Police are also cruising the streets around the high school. On Tuesday, police say a 14-year-old was beaten up by about a dozen kids in another gang-related assault. A 17-year-old was arrested in that incident. Mount Vernon Police Commissioner David Chong says gang violence will not be tolerated and hopes the recent arrests send a strong message to kids involved in gangs.
