Just weeks after a celebratory reopening, the South Street Bridge in Mount Vernon will close again for two months, city officials announced.
The shutdown is necessary for sewer and water construction as well as bridge repairs.
Anne Marie Colace Nogueira, owner of Nogueira's Auto Body Shop, expressed frustration over the decision. "We got this big celebration that it opened up and everyone was happy, and now they shut it down again ... and making it harder for our life," she said.
Officials assured residents that access to affected areas will remain available during the closure.
