A Mount Vernon STEAM Academy student won a $10,000 scholarship from the College Board.
Eleventh grade student Tamera Tate was chosen for participating in BigFuture, the College Board's online guide that helps students plan for life after high school.
She plans on majoring in nursing and is considering colleges like Stony Brook University.
Tate was one of 12 students who were selected for the scholarship.
